CHRW Announces Top 10 Local Albums of 2009!
CHRW has finally announced their Top 10 Local Albums of 2009!
The list was chosen from “a group of local music journalists and broadcasters” who voted on their ‘top 5′ from a
list of 43 local albums which qualified. These ten albums are now competing to win “Local Album of the Year”… winning this honour not only lands you with some bragging rights and sweet press padding, but also $500 and “an oppourtunity to play a live session at CHRW studios”. (I’d also like to note that last years winner–Olenka & The Autumn Lovers–got to play at the CHRW benefit show at Aeolian Hall… but this is not listed as a prize). Although the CHRW website still says that the winner will be announced on the 15th of January… please trust me that the winner will be announced on Friday January 29th on Michael Brown and Alanna Mager’s show ‘Cross Hairs’ (3:30-6:00pm) on CHRW 94.9FM.
It’s a pretty awesome and diverse list, I must say, I must and we’re very happy that 3 of the following are ‘Oh! bands’, including two albums released by Oh!… …enjoy…
THE TOP TEN ALBUMS ARE:

Bill Durst – The Great Willy Mammoth

Baptized in Blood – Gutterbound

A Horse and His Boy – A Horse and His Boy

Awkward Paws – Awkward Paws (…couldn’t find the cover image for this… Awkward Paws is too sneaky…)

Bryan Pole – Work Ethic (this is the image used on their Facebook fan page for the album… not the actual cover…)

Staylefish – Colour by Numbers
